ikompare compares publicly listed iPhone prices across retailers and markets. This page explains, plainly, what we store about visitors and why.

Anonymous device identifier

When you visit, we set a first-party cookie containing a random, anonymous device token. We never store that token itself in our database — only a cryptographic hash of it, which cannot be reversed back into the original token. We do not use browser fingerprinting, and we do not link this identifier to your name, email address, or any account, because there are no user accounts.

Approximate location

Where our infrastructure can determine it reliably, we record an approximate country (e.g. "IN" or "US") so we can show region-relevant pricing. We do not store your IP address. We never trust a self-reported location from your browser as accurate; if we cannot determine your country reliably, we simply don't record one.

Currency preference

If you choose to view prices in a different currency, that choice is saved in a cookie so we can remember it on your next visit. It is never inferred or changed without your explicit action.

Interaction events

We record a small number of meaningful interactions — viewing a product, changing a storage option, clicking through to a retailer — tied to the anonymous device identifier above, so we can understand which comparisons are useful. We do not record every page request or asset load, and these events are automatically deleted after a limited retention period.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to updates, we store the email address you provide and whether you have confirmed and unsubscribed. We do not sell or share this list, and every email includes an unsubscribe link.

Consent

Depending on where you're visiting from, applicable law may require us to obtain your consent before setting some of the cookies described above, or may give you rights over the data described here. This page describes what we collect and why; it is not a substitute for whatever consent mechanism your jurisdiction requires, and we do not claim that consent is never required.

Retention

Interaction events are retained for a limited period (90 days by default) and then permanently deleted. Device records persist as long as the identifier remains in use.
